The EU commitment is the default — and your organisation decides beyond it
Four levels instead of one switch: from "Germany only" to "All models". Stepping up only by the owner, with confirmation and audit entry. Stepping down any time.
Default: EU only
Every organisation starts on level 2: European providers, EU processing. Whoever wants it stricter chooses "Germany only" — no questions asked.
More only by decision
Level 3 allows US vendors with EU processing (vendor under US law), level 4 also models without guaranteed EU processing. Only the owner enables either — by typing the organisation's name, recorded in the audit log.
Background stays EU
The ladder governs chat models only. Document recognition, file search, dictation and titles run in the EU at every level.
Studio: disclosed separately
Image and video are an add-on with a provider in the USA. It never falls under the EU commitment, is off per organisation and is explained openly on its own page.
The platform's four sovereignty levels as a list: Germany only, EU only (default, selected), processing in Europe including US vendors, all models — below it the note that stepping up is only possible for the owner, with an audit entry.
Where what is processed
The public overview names location and law per component. The complete, named list of all processors is an annex to every data processing agreement and can be viewed in the platform settings at any time.

Your chats, files and prompts are processed by the AI providers above; the payment provider never receives them. Besides account emails, the email service only carries the notifications your automations send — with the content you define for them. Web search passes search terms to public search engines, which may be located outside the EU; it can be switched off per conversation. The Studio add-on (USA) is deliberately not listed here: it applies only to organisations that enable it and appears in the DPA under "optional services".
The works-council argument
Futureway AI is built so that introducing it in the company triggers no surveillance debate.
- Organisation administrators never see their members' chat content — only aggregated statistics such as usage and model distribution
- There is no "view as user" mode — technically absent, not merely disabled
- Temporary chat: conversations that are never stored
- Deletion is deletion: immediate hard delete without a retention back door
- Retention periods configurable per organisation — older chats are deleted automatically
Usage dashboard for administrators: members with chats and tokens, the Content column is empty — administrators never see chat content.
DPA & GDPR
Futureway AI UG (haftungsbeschränkt) acts as a processor under Art. 28 GDPR. The data processing agreement is part of every company account.
